@hand Announces New Business with URS
URS Selects @hand for Mobile Solution to Support Facility Management Operations.
AUSTIN, Texas - November 4, 2010 - URS has selected @hand’s Field Mobility System (FMS) as its enterprise mobility software standard to support the company’s contract facility management operations.
URS, a leading provider of engineering, construction and technical services, provides outsourced facilities management services to a variety of industrial and commercial customers. These operations require mobile workers to manage structured tasks such as facility inspections, work orders, and inventory control.
With @hand FMS, URS facilities teams benefit from enterprise mobility software that interfaces with back-end systems of record, while providing an independent system to support field operations and the mobile workforce. For URS, the @hand solution will integrate with IBM Maximo®.
“URS has experience with other mobile software solutions, but chose the @hand product because of the flexibility that our operations demand,” according to Dan Peterson, Director of Engineering, “@hand stands out in the mobile community for its highly-usable applications, self-sufficient architecture, and strong integration to Maximo.”
URS will implement the @hand mobile solution at a large manufacturing plant in the U.S. The company will first develop the work order integration, and then expand the solution to include asset collection, inventory management, and other maintenance management needs.
“@hand has worked previously with URS divisions that support federal government installations, and we are excited to expand our relationship into new commercial markets,” said John Cannington, @hand’s CEO. “URS’ selection of @hand provides another data point that reinforces our fit for customers that manage large-scale, asset-intensive operations, and especially those that recognize the value of delivering mobility as a dedicated system for the mobile workforce.”
