@hand Announces Successful Deployment for TXI
TXI improves mobile data capture and field force efficiency with @hand field mobility software
AUSTIN, Texas - February 28, 2011 - Texas Industries (TXI), a leading supplier of cement, aggregate and consumer product building materials, has successfully implemented the @hand Field Mobility System (FMS) as part a strategic enterprise mobility initiative.
TXI focused its first @hand deployment on its storeroom operations, with future solutions planned to support mobile asset management and maintenance. With the @hand FMS solution, TXI storeroom personnel now benefit from rugged handheld devices and @hand applications to capture mission-critical business transactions, such as supply receipts, material issues, and cycle counts.
“With @hand software deployed, TXI’s storeroom personnel benefit from mobile applications that are both easy-to-use and powerful from an enterprise computing perspective,” according to Terry Marshall, Vice President of Information Systems at TXI. “TXI expects that the new system will increase efficiencies in the storeroom as well as improve data accuracy moving forward. We are excited to work with @hand as our strategic mobile partner as we continue to add new mobile applications to address a variety of mobile business processes.”
After a thorough evaluation of mobile software options, TXI selected @hand based on the quality of its software, its reputation for delivering successful solutions, and its technology alignment with the Oracle E-Business Suite®, which TXI runs as its ERP backbone. @hand mobile solutions interface with the Oracle Enterprise Asset Management (Oracle eAM) application module, which customers use to manage equipment maintenance and related asset management processes.
“TXI serves as an excellent example of @hand’s capacity for precision and efficiency in an implementation,” according to Mike Loos, @hand’s Chief Technology Officer. “We knew that TXI was eager to get a system in place, so we designed a project plan from kick-off to production that required about sixty business days. With the experience gained through the phase one solution, TXI can more effectively plan future project phases while benefitting from the current solution.”
TXI joins a growing @hand customer community across a variety of asset-intensive industries, including oil & gas, government, manufacturing, and utilities. @hand works with customers like TXI not only to implement specific mobile software solutions, but also as a partner that provides guidance in the definition and execution of an effective enterprise mobility strategy.
